New Classrooms, buses among many new projects for Coffee County schools.

New Brockton Elementary will be receiving several new classrooms this school year.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) Coffee County School Board is starting off their year with several irons in the fire, so to speak.

During their first meeting of the new year the school board passed approval for new buses as well as five new modular classrooms for New Brockton Elementary.

Motions were also passed for permission to improve New Brockton High School’s football stadium, and to also construct 12 classrooms at New Brockton Elementary.

According to superintendent Kevin Killingsworth, these expansions are due to recent growth.

“We have to be able to be ready for those students to enroll in our schools, "Killingsworth explained, "the capital projects edition of the 12 classrooms, adding 5 more modular buildings, it's important for us to be ready for the next school year.”

The board is also in the process of purchasing land for a capital project on another school campus, it has not been revealed at this time what that project is or which school will be receiving it.
