Man arrested for strangling, punching and robbing woman while on date, police say

CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) - A man is accused of strangling, punching and robbing a woman while on a date in Ohio in May.

The attack happened in the Winton Woods Apartments parking lot on May 30.

According to the affidavit, 29-year-old Troy Gover was on a date with a woman when her phone got a notification.

Gover saw the notification contained a man’s name and became angry, exited the vehicle and approached the woman in the driver’s seat.

Gover then allegedly strangled the woman until she fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness, Gover was punching her in the face repeatedly, according to the affidavit.

Eventually, Gover stopped the assault and walked toward the back of the vehicle. The woman used this opportunity to flee the scene.

Gover is charged with one count of aggravated robbery.
