Moore defeated Democratic challenger Everett Weiss, a former judge from Midfield, to secure the seat and join fellow Enterprise native and longtime friend, Republican Sen. Katie Britt, in Washington.

The victory marks the culmination of a dramatic political ascent for Moore, who first ran for Congress in 2018 after leaving the state legislature, mounting an unsuccessful primary challenge against then-incumbent Martha Roby.

When Roby decided not to seek reelection in 2020, Moore finished a distant second in a crowded Republican primary before capitalizing on a pandemic-extended runoff window to secure the nomination and win the seat.

Two years ago, court-ordered redistricting forced Moore into an incumbent-on-incumbent primary battle against fellow Republican Rep. Jerry Carl, where Moore once again defied the odds to pull off a victory.

Moore repeated that underdog trajectory on Tuesday, cementing Enterprise — a Coffee County city of roughly 30,000 residents — as the shared hometown of Alabama’s entire Senate delegation.
