January Chapter Chat: Getting Things Done by David Allen
DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - With the new year comes motivation, setting new goals, and long to-do lists. But, those goals can be overwhelming.
Dothan Houston County Library System Director Chris Warren brought a book recommendation to help kick the year off productively.
Getting Things Done: The Art of Stree-Free Productivity by David Allen is a book so practical it could almost be described as dry, Warren said.
“I know a lot of us have so much going on,” Warren explained. “One of the things [Allen] talks about is how if we spend so much time focused on trying to remember the things we have to do, we can’t actually focus our attention on doing the things we have to do.”
The book gives tips like writing down a physical to-do list and prioritizing things by how long the tasks will take you.
“A lot of what he talks about is very actionable,” Warren said. “You don’t need anything fancy. If you have a notepad and a pen you can actually implement a lot of things he talks about in this book.”
If you want to give Getting Things Done a read to help get 2025 started on the right foot, the library has multiple copies available. All you need is a library card. E-book copies are also available with a library card through the Libby app.
