Geneva County’s Henderson leaving Alabama, enters transfer portal

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WTVY) - A former Geneva County football standout has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal and end his time with the Crimson Tide of Alabama.
Junior wide receiver Emmanuel Henderson posted his announcement on his social media pages on Monday through his representatives at A&P Sports Agency, thanking the university and sharing his gratitude for the opportunity to play for the Tide over the last three years.
A 2022 graduate of Geneva County High School, Henderson was a five-star recruit coming out of Hartford and had the numbers to back it up on the gridiron before making his move to Tuscaloosa. During his senior season, the then running back rushed for over 1,800 yards and 25 touchdowns in just seven regular season games for the Bulldogs, and is one of only a select few players in Alabama prep history to rush for over 5,000 yards in a career.
Henderson’s biggest use while with Alabama came during the recent 2024 season, as he became a reliable rotating option at receiver for first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer and a star contributor on special teams. He played in all 12 regular season games for the Tide this year and pulled in 4 receptions for 82 yards, including a career-best 34-yard reception against Georgia that was key in setting up Alabama’s first touchdown of the evening before going on to beat the eventual SEC Champions.
Henderson also accounted for 5 kick returns for 107 yards, including a best 46-yard return against Vanderbilt and Special Team Player of the Week honors from the Tide coaching staff for his performance against Missouri. He also accounted for 4 tackles (3 solo, 1 assisted) on the defensive end.
The former Geneva County star will have one year of eligibility remaining once he makes his transfer move.
