Local businesses awarded at Business Workforce Development

Four local businesses were awarded for their efforts and hard work Wednesday morning at the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce.
Higgins Electric, Bob Woodall Air Care Systems, Wayne Farms, and Eye Center South were all recognized for bettering their companies and local workforce through their various programs.
One example of this is the apprentice program that Higgins Electric offers its workers.
"We bring in guys, we normally would like to work for us in the next six months," said VP David Deese. "If we feel that they're competent, we will start them on a program that will move them from an entry-level apprentice position to a journey-level electrician in four years."
The other businesses were also recognized for their apprenticeships or other business expansions across town.
