4 inmates charged with murder in Alabama prison beating death
ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - Four inmates at Elmore Correctional Facility have been charged with murder in connection with the death of another inmate, according to Alabama court documents.
Nico Phillips, Cedric Usher, Sylvester Slay and De’Andre Knox are each accused to beating Cason Helms to death on June 6.

Details about the incident are limited, but the documents allege that the four men repeatedly struck Helms in the head with their hands and feet until he died.
Knox has been booked into the Elmore County Jail. According to the Alabama Department of Corrections website, the other three inmates have been transferred to Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery.
WSFA 12 News has reached out to ADOC officials for additional details but have not heard back.
