Christmas Eve shooting wounds teen in Dothan

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - A boy was wounded in a Dothan shooting just before noon on Christmas Eve. The victim’s exact age was not immediately known, but witnesses said he he appeared to be approximately 14 to 17 years old. Police did not immediately reveal the age.

The shooting took place along Montgomery Highway at Greentree Avenue, with the victim reportedly in the parking lot of a shopping area.

First responders in emergency transmissions indicated that the victim, who was not publicly identified, suffered significant injuries, but his exact condition was not immediately available.

Officers quickly identified a possible suspect vehicle, but stressed the investigation was in the early stages and said there was no initial reason to believe the public was in danger.
