Wiregrass band prepares for Governor's Inaugural Parade

HEADLAND, Ala. (WTVY) - Governor Kay Ivey will be sworn in to her first full term of office on Monday.

In celebration, there will be an inaugural parade in Downtown Montgomery.

The parade will feature high school and college bands from around the state, including the Headland High School Band from the Wiregrass.

After submitting their paperwork, Headland High School was chosen by the state committee for the opportunity to perform for the Governor.

Band Directory John Taylor says he's honored for this once in a lifetime opportunity.

"Its an honor.. I feel blessed that we were selected. We have a good group of students that have a love for music and it means a lot to me that they are there at the Governors inaugural parade, you know.."

This will be the first time the HHS band has played in an inaugural parade since the 1980's.
