Winter weather brings snow to Midwestern states, including Kansas

St. Francis, Kansas (KAKE/NNS/CBS Newspath) -- The National Weather Service says a streak of light to moderate snow will impact the Midwest, from Kansas and Nebraska toward the Mid-Mississippi Valley.

This is expected to be the first snow of the season for many parts of the country.

A few inches of snow are possible.

WLS-TV reports that by Friday (Nov. 9) morning, light accumulations around an inch of snow are possible in and around the Chicago-area, mainly on grassy surfaces.

The National Weather Service in Goodland, Kansas has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the area through noon Central Time on Thursday (Nov. 8).
