Volunteer tutors needed at Selma St. Elementary

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — A Dothan school is looking for tutors to help their students succeed. More than 60 students from kindergarten through fifth grade at Selma Street Elementary School meet with a tutor every week in the Bright Key Academic Dream Room.

There are about 30 volunteers such as ACOM student, Jonathan Kittle. This is his second year tutoring and he says working with kids is something he could see himself doing in the future.

"This has been very eye opening as far as teaching them something not medical related,” laughed Kittle.

If you or your business is interested in tutoring, you can contact Bright Key Resource Coordinator Jennifer Campbell at (334) 794-1463. Or, you can email her at Jennifer@brightkeywiregrass.org.

Volunteers will have to go through orientation, a 15 minute training and background check. The tutors meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 30 minute sessions between 1:00-3:00 PM.
