FT. RUCKER, Ala. (WTVY) — Two days ahead of Veterans Day, Fort Rucker honored those who served our country.

Those who attended Thursday’s ceremony say the thanks is heartfelt.

Willian Voth says, "There is a lot of great people in every generation, those men who served in war are the heroes."

He came to the ceremony.

He says, "It brought tears to my eyes when they played the army song, it is just a wonderful ceremony."

After Voth's years of military service he retired as lieutenant colonel.

"In Vietnam, I flew the scout helicopter, got shot at many times but I was proud to serve my country."

Every branch of the military was represented at the ceremony.

Someone said, "You are what makes our country a great place to live."

To honor veterans and those who now serve our country a wreath was laid.

Voth says, making sure every soldier is honored is what he wants to see

He says, "It can be a difficult situation but I wouldn’t change my time in the Army for anything."
