ASHFORD/DOTHAN, Al. (WTVY) -- Friday is Valentine's Day and that means many businesses will be especially busy.

Restaurants like Texas Roadhouse anticipate a heavy crowd on Valentine’s Day.

And whether it’s for lunch or dinner, the staff is always ready to help make a couple’s day a little extra special.

Valentine’s Day is the day where couples show their love for one another with flowers, chocolate and even dinner reservations.

For Jacob Lamer, Managing Partner at Texas Roadhouse, this is one of the busiest times of the year for him and his staff.

“I’m expecting probably 3500 guests just this Friday, Saturday and Sunday alone so, it’s crunch time for us” he says.

Knowing how many guests his restaurant will see is impossible to guess.

But making sure he has enough food for everyone is his biggest concern.

“We look as sales trends and all that, but just making sure we have enough food prepped up and all that stuff and, like I said, we kind of have a ballpark figure of what we’re going to do and we just execute it the best that we can” Lamer explains.

The restaurant even decorates to help brighten the mood.

“[We] just kind of make it a little bit more dynamic for them.”

Some couple’s chose to celebrate by having lunch together.

For the Gevara’s, it’s a way to spend some alone time.

“We have three kids. So that’s why we’re on a day date” the couple said.

When asked what the secret to a happy relationship is, Victoria Gevara said “there is no secret. It’s hard work and you have to accept each other for who you are and get through the hard times.”

While Texas Roadhouse will be busy all weekend, today is the busiest one-day holiday for the Petal Pusher Florist in Ashford.

Owner, Hugh Deese says “this is a day when every customer you have wants something delivered on the same day.”

Deese and his staff begin preparing for Valentine’s Day right after Christmas, but they always anticipate last minute calls for flowers.

“As much as we try to educate people, order early order early, there are always people who forget or for one reason or another wait until the last minute, and we’re prepared for them as well” Deese exclaims.

And of course, there are always people who come crawling into his shop the day after Valentine’s Day.

“There will be people who, for one reason or another, got in the doghouse because they did not get the gift on Friday.”

He continues “our doors will be busting down in the morning with people saying ‘hey get me out of the doghouse’ and we’ll do it.”

Texas Roadhouse in Dothan is offering Valentine’s Day dinner specials beginning Friday through Sunday.
