TROY, Al. (WTVY) - Troy University made it official, announcing the former Trojan assistant as their newest head coach.
Neal Brown resigned to take the head coaching position at West Virginia University.
When speaking with alumni, students, and fans at Sisters Restaurant in troy, most people wanted to talk about the old coach. They said Brown will be missed.
“It hurts my heart honestly," said Hope,
Hope is a Junior at Troy and says it just won't be the same without Neal Brown.
"We also understand that was a great opportunity so we wish the coach great success,” said Annie Blackman, Troy Alumnus.
But they'll always support their school,
“I'm still a Trojan fan and we are looking for great things from Troy," said Blackman.
Others are proud of Brown and his accomplishments
"We suspected that winning all those games would lead him to a high level football progam. We congratulate him on that,” said Jim O’Neal, retired Troy professor.
As for the new coach, Chip Lindsay -
“We are extremely pleased that we have a coach now and we are 100% behind him," said O’Neal.
Others aren't so sure.
"I don't know a lot of chip Lindsey I don't know how I feel about him but I do think that the national search that they did kind of wrapped up pretty quick hopefully he's the best candidate for the job we will see next season" Jeff McDurmont, Troy Fan.
But many eating at sisters today had one thing to say -
"No matter what, I’m going to be a fan"
"I love the troy Trojan football team I think they are good for the community and the total growth has been astronomical" Bill Jackson, troy supporter
Chip Lindsey is known for his power offenses - which is something both Neal Brown and Larry Blakeney developed with the Troy program.
