DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY)- Students from around the Wiregrass watched a special veiwing of the nutcracker today,
This is Southeast Alabama Dance Company's 40th production of the Nutcracker and they are celebrating in a special way.
Ashlie Wells, the Artistic Director, says "We hope the entire community will come out and kick off the holiday spirit and celebrate our best of the Nutcracker Ballet. The story is over 100 years old and this is our 40th year celebrating the Nutcracker Ballet in Dothan".
This year SEADAC is celebrating their 40th anniversary with some familiar cast members.
Tracy Solomon, the founder and executive director, says "We decided in celebration of our 40th year that we would ask 18 dancers from the past 40 years to come back and play the roles of the solders".
These alumni range in age from 25 to 65, however they aren't the only ones who make this cast special.
Solomon says "We have 6 guest artists that will be joining us. They are professional dancers and they do a wonderful job".
With 40 years in the books, this production is perfect for your holiday tradition.
Wells says "This production will be fun for the whole family and for all ages. We hope that everyone will come out and join us, we have a lot of new thing planned and of course, the classical ballet, music and celebration is sure to bring you the best of Christmas".
The Nutcracker performances continue with on Saturday and Sunday afternoon at the Dothan Civic Center.
