DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) Today is all about dad.

We started the morning giving cards and celebrating with McDonald’s breakfast… Starbucks to follow up and then we brought the kiddos out here because we like to be out and enjoy our new community,” says Tiffany Gavasso.

The Gavasso's just retired and moved to the Wiregrass and being able to spend this holiday together is important to them.

“After 20 years of service knowing that he's here and we are able to have these memories is amazing,” she says.

A father's role is irreplaceable.

“Dads are the other piece God put a man and a women together to help build a family. Without it our family would not be complete,” says Gavasso.

Some Wiregrass businesses took part in the celebration.

“Fathers are such an important part of our lives as we grow up and things, so as father come in with their kids we want them to enjoy the day, says Gabe Hamm a staff member at Landmark Park.

Landmark Park honored fathers with free admission into the park.

Dads that wanted to spend time with family in the water also received a discount.

“We try to provide a family atmosphere here at water world so we're just really excited about Father’s Day, says Kelly Karter the aquatic manager at Water World.

The water park sliced the admission price in half for fathers.

Families expressed why the fathers in their lives hold a special place in their hearts.

“He is such an amazing example to our children, and I love doing life with him,” Gavasso adds.

“He's really nice and he's kind to everyone. He's the best dad in the world,” says Jace Jensen about his dad.

“He likes to play sports with me a lot,” says Wyatt Gavasso about his dad.

“He makes the best mac and cheese ever,” adds Mia Gavasso.

Happy Father's day to all.
