The Downtown Collide continues

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Dothan's Downtown Collide continued Saturday with Mural City Art Walk and Jon Jam Music Festival.

The distinct art event attracted art patrons and families to Foster Street, featuring a variety of artists from Southeast Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and Northern Florida.

It included a multitude of art styles including hand-made crafts, oil paintings, water colors and the unique style of "photo realism".

"This is called Photo Realism.. a lot of people come in the booth and they say is this a painting or a photograph? So a lot of times when we have one in progress we will show one like this so they can see yes those really are paintings.. and basically they take about 3 months to do." -- Sam Maddox

Starting at Noon, Jon Jam ended the day with live music, food, drinks and kid friendly entertainment.

But that wasn't the focus of the event.

Each year, proceeds go towards their mission: helping people in the Wiregrass area with physical disabilities gain more independence and the best quality of life through the REAL Project and AMBUCS.

“It’s an awesome, awesome opportunity to help out people who need help and that is the biggest reason we are here.” -- Rex Ruiz
