Washington, D.C. (CBS Newspath) -- The nation's capital was hit by severe flooding on Monday morning, stranding many commuters as they tried to head back to work after a long holiday weekend.

Dramatic video shows flooded roads, leaking train stations, and water flowing down the National Mall with even the National Archives being closed due to a power outage.
