Scarecrows in the Gardens hosts people's choice awards

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- The people's choice awards are held every year at the start of Scarecrows in the Gardens. The Dothan Area Botanical Gardens allow admission into the gardens free of charge during the day. People flocked to the gardens to check out the 35 scarecrows and vote for their favorite ones.

Wiregrass Humane Society won the people's choice award with their Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote scarecrows.

The scarecrows are all built around a theme. This year's theme was classic movies and TV. While several scarecrows stuck to tv shows and movies, a couple of scarecrows, including one of the top 3 winners, chose a commercial.

Blake Floyd State Farm Insurance finished in third place with the She Shed. Highlands Elementary School's Harry Potter came in second place. Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote from the Wiregrass Humane Society won the people's choice vote.

People can check out the scarecrows for a $5 admission fee to any non-members above the age of 16. The scarecrows will remain in the gardens through this month.
