DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- School starts back for Dothan City Schools on Tuesday, and communities are doing whatever they can to help.
The Salvation Army hosted a Back to School Bash on Monday. The bash featured food, games, and bounce houses.
But most important of all, they gave away over 250 bookbags filled with school supplies.
Salvation Army Lt. Austin Sturdivant says it's all about helping out the kids, especially those impacted by the Dothan and Northview schools being combined.
The Back to School Bash is the end of a multi-part program that began with school supplies donated to Dothan's three Walmart locations. The school supplies were then packed into the bookbags and handed out to the kids this morning.
The Salvation Army is one of several businesses and companies hoping to make every kids' new school year a smooth one.
