DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Some ballerinas danced their way into the hearts of some children, who attended a performance at the Dothan Civic Center Friday morning.
About a thousand students from all over the Southeast area were treated to a shortened version of the classic ballet, “The Nutcracker,” performed by the Southeast Alabama Dance Company.
SEADAC performs for schools each year as part of its outreach program, “Delivering Art Now in Children’s Education,” or D.A.N.C.E.
The company’s artistic director said the School Show, is one of their favorite performances.
“Art goes back to the early ages of humanity, and the human spirit, and how to bring joy and love to a community,” said Artistic Director for SEADAC, Ashlie Wells.
“And to hear these school children, and to be with all the children, and hear their love for dance, and their enjoyment, really brings a special gift to what we do,” Wells said.
SEADAC is performing “The Nutcracker” all weekend long, and tickets are still available.
