Rural King sets up hiring fair to fill positions for new store

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — A farm and home store is bringing more than 100 jobs to the Circle City.

"New area, not really knowing what to expect. Dothan really came to the table and provided us with some good applicants for sure."

Ray McDonald is the store director at Rural King, a farm and home store moving into the former K-Mart building on Reeves Street in Dothan.

The store doesn't open until August, but the time to hire is now.
"We have most of the main, key positions filled, minus some assistant managers."

McDonald says Dothan is the perfect location for a store like Rural King because it's a rural area.
"We have a motto, that we are our customer."

Some of the items they sell include tractors, fencing, livestock, guns and kayaks.

"They've got a lot of different stuff I've never even heard of. It's kind of interesting, sort of like a tractor supply but way more," says one Dothan resident.

Rural King hired more than 60 people Wednesday, and plan on hiring close to 60 more!

McDonald says the salaries ranged -- they plan on getting people in at an entry level where they can grow.
He hoped to have all open positions filled by the end of the day.
