Report looks at how much kids make in their allowances

(NBC News Channel) -- A new report reveals just how much kids are earning in their allowances.

Kids' average allowances increased in 2018.

A survey of more than 30,000 kids by Rooster Money, a kids chore tracking app, finds that kids between the ages of 4 and 14 earned an average allowance of 471 dollars last year.

That equals out to about 9 dollars and six cents a week, an increase of more about 3.7 Percent from the previous year.

Of course that factors in an average of 58 dollars in cash received for Christmas.

Researchers says 69 percent of parents choose to give their kids a regular allowance.

Among the most common chores, tidying the bedroom which earns an average of $2.71, laundry, looking after pets, cleaning the bathroom, and taking out the trash.

The top three things kids are spending their allowance on: candy, presents and books.
