Progress made for homeowners, now 4 months after Hurricane Michael

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - October 10th was a day to remember when Hurricane Michael ripped through the Panhandle and Wiregrass, destroying homes, and even taking lives.

Looking at the damages, it was clear the rebuilding process was going to be a long one, as insurance companies and contractors are the busiest they have been.

Subcontractor Mike Dawson says, "We have been overwhelmed."

Now 4 months later, progress has been made.

Brian Jones says State Farm had 2,080 homeowner claims filed as a result of Hurricane Michael.

"We have settled almost 90 percent of the claims that we had filed."

124 days later, the road to recovery is still ongoing for homeowners around the Wregrass area, but with time and patience, things are looking up.
