Police: No charges in overnight robbery that led to homicide

(AL.com) — Mobile Police say that there are currently no plans to charge a Mobile man who shot and killed an alleged robber in a Wednesday night incident.

The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. Officers responded to a call at the 1300 block of Olive Court, where a 24-year-old male was found dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.

23-year-old Lederrick Collier showed up at a local medical facility with a gun injury and reported that he shot and killed the 24-year-old after the unnamed male approached him and attempted to rob him.

Although deliberations between investigators and the Mobile District Attorney's office led to a decision not to press charges related to the death, Collier was arrested on outstanding warrants for a pistol permit violation, resisting arrest, giving a false name and domestic violence third degree.
