DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- A local developer may have the winning plan to put a property that has been vacant for years back to use.
The plan is to build a hotel on the property where the old Pizza Kastle sits.
The developer's team worked with the city and the Department of Transportation to meet all zoning regulations.
A similar plan was submitted five years ago by a different developer but Garden District residents’ concerns led to the plan's rejection.
The team hopes by following the 30-foot landscape buffer requirement the same won't happen to them.
“I think we've come up with a good layout plan a good design that maybe gets that property back useful for the city,” says Northstar Engineering’s engineer Lee Brown.
The planning commission will discuss the plan at their next meeting on February 19th.
