DOTHAN, AL (WTVY) For Sandi Hodge and the Shute Pecan Company, it's another day in what is turning into a busy holiday season.

The small gift shop is reaping the rewards of having pecans more readily available, thanks to an amazing growing season.

She says "We are so thankful there are pecans this year. It's fun to see our customers being excited about having pecans and we're thrilled."

Shute is in full swing for the holidays, moving up to 150 pounds of pecans daily.

Masy Warren, who works there says it's been exciting seeing the pecan crop succeed, in spite of a rocky start, thanks to Hurricane Irma.

She said "We've seen a good crop this year. Irma did mess us up in the beginning but it didn't stop the pecan crop. It's come through, it's prevailed and we've's been excellent, we've really enjoyed that."

Hodge says "We defintiely have had it a little better this season, with the rain amounts and not being so excessively hot".

Fifteen U.S. states grow pecans commercially. Georgia is number one.
