OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) — A group gathered Monday to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country and freedoms.

Nearly one-hundred people gathered at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Ozark to pay tribute to the more than one-million men and women who have died serving our country.

Many shared tributes thanking those who served in the military.

Vietnam veteran, Bobbie Enfinger believes the true meaning of Memorial Day has been lost, and it is so important to remember why we celebrate.

"It's what we do as a nation of God loving people,” says Efinger. “I really do think that's the way it is, you know? And a lot of times, it's overlooked."
A moment of silence was held following the ceremony at 3 p.m. to remember those who gave their lives for our freedoms.
