OZARK, Ala. (WTVY) - The Ozark Fire Department is looking to fill a handful of openings within the next 6 weeks.
The department is required to have a minimum of 47 people, including the administrative staff and the Fire Chief.
Right now, they're sitting at about 43 and will soon lose a few more to Ft. Rucker.
Fire Chief Phillip Prince says fire and rescue is rewarding, but still a very intense job and in the city of Ozark, you have a few requirements you must meet.
"The city of Ozark requires a firefighter to be a certified firefighter in the state of Alabama. We do put them through the school.. it's a 360 hour class and on top of that the City of Ozark does require them to be basic EMT's, and that's another 6 weeks of schooling, if they do not have that."
Chief Prince is looking to fill every opening by April.
