"Out of Harm's Way" kit could be the answer to missing persons cases

TAYLOR, AL. (WTVY) Law enforcement say's when a loved one goes missing; the new Out of Harms Way kit could be the difference between life or death.

Sheriff Donald Valenza says, "All it is an evidence jar, sterile gloves and gauze."

If your loved one goes missing, this is how law enforcement can quickly find them.

Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza spoke to the Taylor Senior Center, letting them know how it works.

All you do, rub the gauze on the arm to get someone’s scent.

"Once you do that, put it in the jar and seal it."

If that person goes missing, K9's can use the scent to find them.

"This is really going to be a great program for us."

The sheriff's office is giving them away for free, all you have to do is go pick it up.

Sheriff Valenza is looking to add two more bloodhounds to the four they already have.

Bloodhounds are what they use to track down people who are missing.

They want one on duty 24/7.
