National Peanut Festival hosts annual recipe contest

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) The National Peanut Festival is explained as the “best time of the year,” which makes Wednesday one of the tastiest.

The Peanut Festival Recipe Contest started at 8 a.m. at the Fairgrounds Volunteer Building. They are expecting 130 to 150 entries, including cakes, pies, cookies, candies and miscellaneous. All the submissions must have peanuts, peanut butter or peanut oil as an ingredient to qualify.

“Everybody loves to eat and try new things,” said Sherry Saunders, NPF Recipe Contest Committee Member. “I feel like that’s kinda what the recipe contest is the beginning of the National Peanut Festival.”

Winners will receive a kitchen aid mixer or cash prize. Winning recipes will be published in the newspaper.
