DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) Do you "goat milk?" The 2017 Dairy Goat Show took place Monday morning at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds.

This year 23 exhibitors from all over the southeast showcased 210 goats. Goats are judged on 4 categories, body capacity, character, appearance, and mammary system. The Dairy Goat Show has been taking place for about 30 years. Its purpose is to teach people about goats and the various ways to use their milk.

“They can give you milk.” said Reid Danner, goat show competitor and member of D6 Farms. “If you like meat, goat meat, you can goat meat, lotions, soaps, cheese, and the daily necessities pretty much. Just go in the backyard and make it in your own house so it’s pretty fun.”

After the show a “goat milking” competition took place. Winners of the show and milking competition won cash prizes.
