EUFAULA, Al. (WTVY) -- Plans are in the works for a Eufaula landmark to get a facelift. Eufaula got a $15,000 dollar grant to help rehabilitate the old Martin Theater. The plan is to make it an open-air venue and hopefully enhances the downtown area, drawing people to businesses on Broad street like superior pecans and gifts.
"We’re right next door, and it would be a huge draw", said Jan Shoffit.
The project would be done in two phases, restoring the marquee, then cleaning out the interior. But for Kennard Richardson who grew up in Eufaula. He hoped the bright lights would be turned on.
"I think it would be good if you had at least one theater down here in Eufaula", said Kennard Richardson.
