Brieana Farmer, per court records, administered 20 times the recommended dose of generic Benadryl to nine-month-old Kodah.
“There no bringing back a child that had no chance in this world to do anything productive or realize his dreams,” Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams said.
Before the baby’s death Farmer allegedly posted on social media that Kodah was driving her crazy.
Dale County Circuit Judge William Filmore imposed the sentence after Farmer pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
Farmer’s defense attorney admits his client has a long history of drug abuse that contributed to the Kodah’s death. “It’s a sad story but we’re glad it’s over and (Farmer) is ready to move on. She lost her son and is remorseful,” Jason Brogden said.
Under Alabama law the maximum penalty for manslaughter is 20 years in prison.
