MALVERN, AL. (WTVY) -- It's getting to be that time of the year when local produce stands are open for business.
Mills Produce in Malvern have been open since the middle of April.
Most of the produce back then came from south Florida but now is transitioning to more local items.
This past weekend, beans, squash, and cucumbers were a big hit for Mother's Day.
"We have green onions, new potatoes, snap peas, We've had English peas," said produce co-owner Daisy Mills."So right now there's quite a bit of local, fresh stuff coming in. But it will be the end of the month before the Slocomb tomatoes come in."
After 27 years of ownership of Mill's Produce, Daisy is stepping down and transferring the business over to her grandson Micah.
