Man critically injured while trying to cross busy highway

Dothan, AL (WTVY)-- A 44-year old Georgia man suffered critical injuries Thursday night when a car traveling on Ross Clark Circle struck him.

Dothan Police Sergeant Chris Watson said that man, who has not been publicly identified, was crossing the state highway.

The driver, a Florida college student, swerved but couldn't avoid hitting him, Watson told WTVY.

No charges are anticipated.

The accident happened in the 2800 block of the Circle, between Fortner Street and Bauman Drive. There have been previous pedestrian fatalities there.
