MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVY) -- The G.W. Long Rebels have won their third straight AHSAA baseball championship. This time taking down Westbrook Christian 18-5 and 7-0 in a best two out of three series in Montgomery.
In game one on Tuesday night, Long scored 10 runs in the first inning and four in the second and third innings on their way to victory at Patterson Field.
Long used three pitchers in the opener. Christian Collier got the win but Carson Dunlap and Jake Steed also put in strong performances.
At the plate, Matt Snell has three hits and three RBI while lade Simmons had two hits and three RBI. Harrison Gray had two hits and three RBI while Kam Faria, Christian Collier, Trevor Morris, Caison Long, Jake Steed, Parker Collier and Carson Dunlap all had hits.
In game two, Long put one run on the board during the first two innings, three in the third inning and one in the fourth and sixth innings to get the win.
Matt Snell picked up the win on the mound going seven innings, allowing just six hits, no walks and 12 strikeouts.
Snell also have four hits while Simmons, Gray and Collier all had two hits each. Faria, Steed and Dunlap all had one hit each.
Long finishes the season with a 34-6 record.
