Liberty County, Fla. (WJHG) -- According to David Summers, Superintendent of the Liberty County School District, Liberty High School's new head baseball coach, Corey Crum, and his wife were killed while working to erect a scoreboard Sunday.

He said the machine they were using inadvertently struck a powerline.

Superintendent Summers said the couple's son was also there and was taken to the hospital for burn injuries.

"Our community is reeling. We've had an overflow of community people here showing up to mourn with all of us. He was well respected. Even though this would be his first year as our head coach, he had worked last year as an assistant varsity baseball coach and had earned the admiration of the players. It's just a terrible loss for us," Summers said.

We're told the school has already begun setting up counseling sessions for students.
