Jackson County man dies after being struck with live power line

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A man is dead in Jackson County after being struck by a live power line near the intersection of Mission Road and Turk Road on Friday, May 3rd.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck driven by Terry Wilson, 63, was delivering a load of dirt to the home of Larry Brock, 73, when Wilson pulled forward to ensure all the dirt had been off-loaded.

As a result of pulling forward with the dump truck bed up, the bed became entangled with a power line that ran overhead. When the bed lowered, it caused the power line to break. fall and then land on Brock who was standing close by.

Brock succumbed to his injuries after being struck by the live power line and was pronounced dead on scene by Jackson County Rescue personnel.

The incident is under investigation and charges are pending.
