HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) -- In a meeting Monday, Houston County Commissioners decided to stop all in-person transactions to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
The resolution stops all in-person activities until April 30. The exceptions to the order are those required by law or under Administrative Order of the Supreme Court of Alabama.
With in-person transactions cancelled residents will have to conduct county business through the mail, phone or internet.
"We are committed to continuing our service to the public and with that, our law enforcement, garbage pick-up, and other essential services remain the same," said Mark Culver, Houston County Commission Chair. "The most important thing is that everyone in the community does their part to stay informed, stay calm and to recognize that we all have a responsibility to help reduce the spread of COVID-19."
