GENEVA (WTVY) -- The Will Jenkins Center in Geneva is serving as a warming station for the county as the freezing temperatures continue. With nearly a dozen volunteers working to ensure that people can get out of the cold for at least a couple of nights

The center opened its doors late Tuesday afternoon, with the capability of providing shelter to 20 people.

Misty wise organized the warming center in Geneva, and she says that using this facility was the right decision.

She said "The Will Jenkins Center had previously opened as a warming station and already had a few cots so it seemed like this was the right place to be."

Jessica Simmons of the Purpose and Promise Ministry brought several volunteers with her in the hopes that they can provide aid like this even when the temperature doesn't drop.

She says "We know it's a need in the community, our ministry deals with the homeless everyday. We're hoping to be able to provide this every day."

For those interested in donating or volunteering, the Will Jenkins Center is located at 601 West Mulkey Avenue in Geneva County.

The doors will open at 5 PM and close at 8 through Friday. For More information, contact Russell Clausell at (334)-447-1286.
