Former Chipola employee accused of soliciting students

MARIANNA, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A former employee of Chipola College is facing charges after deputies say he was soliciting students for sexual favors.

Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies began investigating Joc Calloway, 33, in February.

Deputies say a dual enrolled student reported an incident that happened in late January to a professor at Chipola. The student said Calloway reached out to him on social media where he said they exchanged idle conversation. Deputies say Calloway suggested they communicate through another social media app which only holds contents for a short period of time. The victim says Calloway then sent him an unsolicited, inappropriate picture of himself.

Investigators say the next day Calloway invited the student to his house on his lunch break and asked for a sexual favor. The student decline then blocked Calloway on social media.

Investigators say this victim is not the only student Calloway solicited for sexual acts or having a relationship outside of the college. Investigators say Calloway propositioned at least two other students, one of which is an adult.

Tuesday, after investigators say they confirmed Collaway had knowingly seduced, solicited, and/or enticed a minor to commit illegal acts through the use of his cell phone, an arrest warrant was obtained. Calloway is no longer employed with Chipola College.

Wednesday Calloway turned himself in to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. He is charged with one count of solicitation of a minor.
