For local nurseries, Mother's Day is like Christmas

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- If you don't know what to get mom this year for Mother's Day, flowers are always a good option.

For many nurseries around town, this is the busiest time of the year.

From orchids to roses to house plants, there are many options your mom may enjoy not just Sunday but hopefully for years to come.
Hydrangeas are a good option since they have large pink or blue blooms for several months.

"The reason why people like them is because they're really pretty right now," said Dothan Nurseries owner John Boone. "The other thing is that it will be blooming this time next year. So mom can say little Johnny got me that for Mother's Day last year. Hydrangeas are a good one; the second one we do a lot of are roses."

House plants need regular sunlight and good moisture, so be sure to place those near a window and water regularly.
