DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- All the wet weather is a nightmare for National Peanut Festival parking.

The unpaved parking lots are extremely muddy and Thursday morning, were even impassible.
A few cars even got stuck in the marshy terrain.
The crews have been working all day Thursday laying down sand and wood chips to dry the puddles.
The rain has significantly affected businesses to vendors as well, making one of the worst years for sales.

"We're praying that everyone just floods in here the last two days. Hopefully today will be a good day for us as well," said Dexter and Marciniah Bryant. "Saturday we have to capitalize on all the days that we've lost. "

So far, festival attendance is more than 10% down compared to last year.
Additional losses are expected through the end of the week.
