New information in Pike County Murder

A total of 5 suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of 43 year old Gary Pergler.
Pergler went missing March 6th.
One of the suspects, Ashlee Beebe, has now been charged with Murder.
Beebe was originally only charged with Hindering Prosecution.
The same information that prompted the murder charge against Beebe also dropped the murder charge from one other suspect, Robert Raymond Johnson.
Johnson was released from the Pike County Jail yesterday.

5 people are in custody in connection with a weekend murder investigation in Pike County. The body of Gary Lee Pergler was found Saturday -- in a rural area on Pike County Road 2274.

A neighbor reported Pergler missing March 6th. Police searched his home and found signs of a struggle that suggested foul play.

Pergler's car was found March 8th. Troy Police say it was being driven by Pat Dickey Junior.

Dickey was questioned and arrested for murder.

Robert Johnson was also arrested on a murder charge in the case.

3-others were arrested on charges of hindering the prosecution.

Pergler's body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.


Gary Lee Pergler was found deceased on March 10, 2018. His body was recovered in a rural area on Pike County Road 2274.

Pat Dickey Jr., 43, and Robert Raymond Johnson, 29, have been arrested and charged with Murder (Class A Felony). Dickey and Johnson were incarcerated in the Pike County Jail. Bond has been set at $100,000.00 in each case.
Ashlee L. Beebe, 29, Jason Michael Schultz, 27, and Jessica Mae Furtado, 24, has also been arrested and each has been charged with one count of Hindering Prosecution 1st degree (Class C Felony). They have also been incarcerated in the Pike County Jail. Bond was set at $5,000.00 in each case.

Police responded to Pergler’s residence on Pike County Road 5516 on March 6th when a concerned neighbor advised that he had not seen or heard from Pergler since around 4:00pm the previous day. Pergler’s residence was secure and Pergler would not come to the door. Pergler’s car, a 2001 Chevrolet Impala, was not at his residence. After further investigation Police returned to Pergler’s residence. Pergler was nowhere to be found but evidence found inside the home showed signs of a struggle and suggested foul play.

Investigators located Pergler’s car on Melanie Lane in the Pocosin area around noon on March 08, 2018. The driver and only occupant of the car was Pat Dickey Jr. Dickey was taken to the Troy Police Department for questioning and the car was impounded so that it could be processed for evidence.

Gary Lee Pergler’s body will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery so that an autopsy can be performed.

This case remains under investigation by the Troy Police Department with assistance from the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, the Pike County Coroner’s Office, the Pike and Coffee County Sheriff Departments and the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.
