ETI Employees relocate after fire burns down office

ASHFORD, Ala. (WTVY) - Employees of Eastern Technology Inc. in Ashford spent the day Wednesday relocating to a new facility, after their office burned down Tuesday night.

The fire started around 10:00 p.m., while no one was in the building.

The cause is still unknown.

Eastern Technologies Inc. makes and disposes protective clothing for working in nuclear plants. ETI provides the protective clothing for Farley Nuclear Plant in Columbia.

Ashford Fire Chief Jimmy Posey says the fire only burned the office, so there shouldn't be any setbacks to the operations building.

"We actually had people inside and outside at the very beginning,” said Posey. “We had to do some controlled measures before we could get people inside."

We asked employees of Eastern Technologies Inc. about the fire and their plans for the office building. They were unwilling to comment.
