Drenching floods damage roads in parts of North Carolina

North Carolina (WRAL / NBC News Channel) -- After being dry for several weeks, rain -- lots of it-- has come to North Carolina.

The rain started falling late Friday night and continued all weekend.

More than seven inches fell in some parts of Franklin and Wake counties on Saturday alone.

There was so much water that it washed away the dirt beds under some roads and caused the streets to disappear.

Officials say some repairs will take just a few days.

But, others will take a lot longer. In some cases, it could take months to get the roads open again.
