Dothan's first female firefighter dies

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) — Dothan's first female firefighter passed away Saturday night.

Vickey Bristow served as a Dothan Fire Paramedic for twenty years.
Bristow was also the first female paramedic for Columbia Rescue, where she served for thirty-five years.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, beginning at 2pm at the Camp Springs Baptist Church, in Columbia.

Bristow will be honored with a fire truck procession on the fire truck she retired in.

To honor her, the family is starting a scholarship in her name.

Starting next year, the "Victoria Bristow Memorial Scholarship" will be awarded to a female senior who's studying emergency medicine.
