DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- The city of Dothan has proclaimed October 23rd through the 31st "Red Ribbon Week"
The (334) Prevention Project and the Students Against Destructive Decisions Program at Dothan High School are partnering for this year's observance.
More than 150 Dothan High students will go to 16 elementary schools to teach kindergarten through sixth graders about bullying and how and who to take medication from.
They will also talk to 5th and 6th graders about the importance of staying away from vaping.
"Our children need to be educated on these things. Even the simple prescription drugs you know, a lot of children think it's okay to take those drugs even if it's not prescribed to them. We need to let them know that this is a danger to that," (334) Prevention Project Executive Director Judy Guiler.
There will be a vaping campaign in December run by the S.A.D.D. club at Dothan High School in light of the vaping epidemic.
