DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -- Writer Ernest Hemingway once said "There is no friend as loyal as a book," however Dothan’s Friends of the Library is proving their loyalty to promoting literacy around the area.
The non-profit is having a book sale with around 8,000 books.
After three days they have estimated 3 to 4,000 books have been sold.
All the money raised goes back to the library, but is only part of what the group is doing.
"Our ultimate goal is to increase literacy in our community and we just told you we've distributed about 3,000 books and that's to all over our community," Friends of the Library Volunteer Suzan Knight said.
The sale will continue Sunday from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and books will be 25 cents.
